This is the first post in a little while. Haven’t quite achieved my “5 posts a week” target, but after my experiences from last week, it’s never going to happen! More on that another time.
I didn’t mention this earlier, but a couple of weeks ago we took Ayaan to see the doctor. His first trip there – we were worried that he was crying a lot, not feeding properly and maybe had a touch of colic. Most worryingly (is that a word?), he had thrown up twice the day before.
We took him to see the health visitor first, which was absolutely useless. I’d been warned by a friend that health visitors never make a decision and have a habit of repeating things back at you. I then had to go in to work but my wife took him to see the doctor.
In the meantime, I’ve discovered my very own baby group at work! A few of my colleagues have kids, and they are a fountain of knowledge. I remember people talking about going to baby group coffee mornings and now I’ve got one as well. Admittedly mine lasts about 15 minutes, but we even get doughnuts sometimes!
Anyway, I told them about Ayaan’s problems. You have to be careful with getting too much advice, but:
“you should try Gaviscon Junior, that may help.” one of my colleagues told me.
I wasn’t sure about this, after all with kid’s medicines you don’t want to give them the wrong thing.
But…..have a guess what the doctor prescribed? Got to say, baby groups are a must!
