Speaking to someone at work I suddenly realised we had been talking about babies for about 10 minutes. What’s going on? Blokes don’t talk about babies!
A few months ago if someone wanted to talk about babies, I would smile politely and edge away discreetly. It was one of those conversations I just didn’t get and, if I’m honest, I found it….boring.
Things are different now though, aren’t they? Now I could probably talk about baby stuff for hours on end. Someone I know recently had a baby and I found myself asking them “how much did he weigh?”
Why do I want to know that?! Yet….it somehow feels right to ask the question.
What’s funny though, is the number of men (usually those with very young children, to be fair) who are prepared to talk about nappies, sleeplessness and feeding – I’m pretty sure we could continue the conversation for hours on end.
….I just realised I’ve become one of those boring people that I would avoid.
