It’s funny how you get worked up about the little things your baby does. First it was about hearing every little strange noise he makes (not the crying – just the little yelps and whimpers!), then it was about seeing his first smile (although I’m told that his first smiles aren’t actually true smiles. Thanks for spoiling the moment).
He actually smiles quite a lot nowadays, especially in the mornings when he is in a jolly mood. But now it’s all about catching his first laugh.
The first time I heard him laugh was last week. Mummy A and I were giving him a bath – I was holding him and she was washing his hair when he gave a little giggle. We weren’t quite sure if it was a laugh, but he sounded so cute. Mummy A was disappointed ‘cos she missed seeing the expression on his face.
Then I heard him laugh again a few days later. I was at home by myself playing with Baby A when he started giggling again! I quickly phoned Mummy A so she could hear it, but unfortunately he got distracted by the phone.
A couple of days ago he was on the bed and Mummy A left the room. I started making faces at him and he started laughing at me! Mummy A rushed back into the room…..but the moment was gone. Believe me she was gutted, especially since she has missed it every single time so far!
It’s funny, but we almost compete to notice these things. Hey, I’ll take what I can get – after all, Mummy A gets to spend virtually all her time with him (whether she likes it or not is another story). You might think I relish these moments….and you’d be right! You haven’t seen what he’s started doing at the moment (as I’ve discussed here), so maybe you would understand then.
