Yep, another haircut. It’s quite fun using the trimmer on his head….and he seems to enjoy it. Let’s hope it stays that way.

Baby A’s hair has been getting quite long so we thought we had better give him another trim. Summer time is coming now, so he needs something cool and dynamic.

Mummy A has been quite resistant to cutting it – he does look really cute with his stylish hair!
It’s very easy to cut with some clippers, takes no time at all. He seems to enjoy it too, just like the first time. I couldn’t resist doing a punk style first before it all came off!

And here’s the finished cut. He’s not grumpy really – that’s how he always looks when in the bath!
The other day we had some guests come round to visit Baby A in the evening. They also brought round their baby, who was born a little before Baby A, but is about twice the size. Jeez, our son is so tiny!
Their baby is very healthy looking but has an incredibly funky hairstyle. They have cut his hair once already and it’s grown back in an odd way – it’s only grown really thick along the middle so it makes him look like a punk!
Ayaan being Ayaan, he was a bit dopey in the evening, so I put him to sleep. Mummy A picked up their baby – he has some weight on him already. We took his hat off and thought it was hilarious when we saw his hair. Suddenly the husband, who hadn’t really been paying attention, turns over to look and exclaimed:
“Hey, your son’s hair looks just like MY son’s!”
At which point his wife turned to him and said:
“What are you talking about – that IS your son!”
I swear, you can’t make this stuff up.
I’ve noticed over the last week or so that Baby A is developing an area at the back of his head which has a distinct lack of
hair. Erm….I would go so far as to say he is looking like he’s going bald. Hey, he hasn’t inherited that from me – I have a full head of hair!
I notice that my father-in-law is balding, so it makes you wonder….
Apparently this bald patch is quite common for babies and tends to disappear after a few months. My theory is that his head is getting bigger obviously there would be no hair in the places his skin stretches! The more common reason appears to be that his head rubs against things and the hair falls off over there (although my son sleeps on his side, so don’t quite get it).
PS his hair has been growing back quite nicely otherwise. And no, this is not an April’s Fool joke – that is a real photo!

As promised, the above pic is the new skinhead look for Baby A after his haircut. I really miss the hair! It was fun styling it:

Important event in the life of a baby – his first haircut! We practice a custom (which I admit I don’t know enough about) whereby the baby has to have his head shaved within 40 days of his birth. The weight of the baby’s hair in silver is then given to charity. Why silver? Dunno, but please let me know if you do!
The picture above was taken just before the short back and sides
My dad was nominated to cut Baby A’s hair as he had asked to do it (see pic on the right). Not quite true actually – my mum had told everyone that my dad could do it easily, my dad hadn’t actually said anything! Hey, I wasn’t to know, but my dad was pretty nervous. Apparently he even contacted a professional hairdresser the previous day to see if they could come round to do it!![]()

So, on 17th February, Baby A went on his first trip out of the house over to his grandparents. You’re meant to get a pretty clean shave of his head and we’d been told to use a Mach 3 razor to do it. My father-in-law had the bright idea of using hair clippers first, which the wife was not impressed by – she was convinced he would hate the noise. She was overruled in the end and it was the best thing we could have done.
Amazingly, Baby A didn’t scream and shout like we expected – he slept through the whole thing. Takes after his dad obviously. We were done in half an hour (everyone told us it would take a few hours to do). He didn’t even cry during his bath, so obviously having a lazy day.
