When will the injections end?

I hate injections. I don’t have a problem with needles myself…I just really hate it when my son has to have injections. Never fun to watch…especially the change in his expression when it happens. Yesterday was his third set of vaccinations – and there were three of them in total. He’s usually not too bad afterwards, but yesterday was…different.

After the injections he is always a bit miserable, but he was crying and whimpering all day today. I went to work and unfortunately had to leave Mummy A to it. I got home to find him feeling poorly and with a temperature. He was really crying, but it was a “I feel terrible” type crying rather than a “I’m in pain” cry. It almost makes me feel bad about his crying habits. Almost.

His next injection is around his first birthday, so at least we get a little respite. Do they really need this many?

Yet another injection

I was about to post this to my Bulletin Board but didn’t want it to become a page about Baby A’s health problems. Not to say he has any real health problems mind you.

But yes….he had to have two more injections today for diptheria and…..er….sorry, forgotten the other stuff. He’s such a weedy little thing that they gave the injection in his thighs rather than his arms. He did not like it one bit – there’s a surprise.

I feel cruel with all these injections he has to have, but we are doing it for his benefit after all. The injections have made him a bit uneasy today, but hopefully he will recover quickly. I hate seeing him this uncomfortable – he hasn’t slept properly all day….this is exactly what happened when he had his last injections. This time we’ve decided to give him medicine though – let’s hope it works.

The 8 week check

Poor chap. On Monday he had the chop and then two days later he has had to go for his 8 week check up. And that means vaccinations…which involves injections. He was a brave little soldier, only cried a little bit before calming down very quickly. Just when he had calmed down after that injection, then there was another one!

It’s a good thing he doesn’t understand injections. I don’t really like needles myself. Can you imagine how big the needles must look to an 8 week old baby?

We took him home and gave him a bath and fed him milk at the same time. He was happy as Larry.

Some things never change though. Whilst he sat in his bath in some comfort there was a sudden eruption and a collection of bubbles in the bath. Now that was a Kodak moment! Which leads me on to my next post….
