Nappy origami (part 3)

Here are a few things I’ve picked up about changing nappies. All tips are welcome – I need all the help I can get! (Note: Part 1 and 2 are here and here).

1. Preparation is key. Keep all materials ready.

2. Have a change of clothes nearby (for both of you!), in case of “accidents”.

3. Cotton wool and warm water is recommended, but getting it ready is a pain in the butt (so to speak). Wet wipes were designed with blokes in mind.

4. If the baby goes very quiet whilst changing the nappy, be prepared for the worst.

5. (TOP TIP) Get someone else to change the nappy for you.

The big tidy

Mother’s Day wasn’t much of a break for Mummy A. We’re currently staying at the in-laws but are planning to move back next week. No place like home, eh?

So, having not been home for a few weeks, it was time to go back and do a bit of a spring clean. We spent 5 hours cleaning and getting Baby A’s room ready. It was a busy day, but I learnt a few things from doing the tidy:

  1. Our dresser drawer can hold over 200 nappies.
  2. The cupboard under the stairs is like the Tardis. It’s amazing what you can fit in there! *
  3. The cot mobile plays the second most annoying music known to man.
  4. The playmat has a toy which plays the most annoying music known to man. It also puts commercial alarms to shame – it starts playing at the slightest movement.
  5. The playmat music toy has no OFF switch.
  6. You can fit 70 nappies in a standard baby box and still have room left for a few packets of baby wipes.
  7. I now judge storage space based on how many nappies can fit.

* we managed to fit a vacuum cleaner, 2 floor cleaners, 3 dust pans, 3 brushes, a feather duster, 2 torches, 6 dishcloths, a tin of paint, 2 buckets, lots of carrier bags, 2 tool boxes, a box of washing powder, 2 fairy liquid bottles, an old newspaper, 4 large saucepan and a partridge in a pear tree.
